Ghost Town
With this Horror meets Western you get a great story but being made in 1988 I have some issues with it starting with it has that horrible 1980s video look, by the mid 80s nothing was filmed on actual film stock anymore which gave the blues of the sky and greens of the plants that charm the Exploitation genre and other films of the 70s have no matter how bad they were they just had that great bright look to them compared to the dull look of the new 1980s technology. Also the sets in it looked cheap and that of maybe a soap opera. And last the acting of most of the actors was good but the lead who plays the cop seemed to like to smile a lot of the movie which if I were trapped in a ghost town full of killer ghost cowboys I doubt I would be smiling and wisecracking much!
The thing that makes this one shine is the story and the script which again if made in the 70s it would have a much better feel but it is about a woman who gets kidnapped and the local cop who goes looking for her who ends up in a ghost town stuck in the 1880s by ghosts of the town's people who are the living dead. I don't post many American movies from the 80s but it really has such a great and unique story it is well worth a watch!!
